Tracing Gaps – Biography of a European Stranger
Een jongen erft een kast vol 8mm filmopnames van zijn vader, een man die hij sinds zijn zevende niet heeft gezien. Aan de hand van het materiaal probeert hij het mysterieuze leven van zijn vader te reconstrueren, maar hij moet steeds ongeloofwaardigere constructies verzinnen om de vreemde beelden narratief aan elkaar te kunnen koppelen.
Componist Christoph Coburger en filmmaker Daan Milius slaan de handen in elkaar om met Europese amateurfilmopnamen een narratief audiovisueel document te creëren die het onmogelijke verhaal verteld van een halve eeuw Europa door het oog van de amateurfilmer.

A young man who hasn’t heard from his father since he was seven inherits his 8mm film collection. Guided by the narrative qualities of the films he tries toreconstruct his father’s mysterious life. The deeper he gets into the footage the more he has to come up with improbable constructions in order to link the images in a narrative way.
Composer Christoph Coburger and filmmaker Daan Milius join forces to construct amateur footage into a audiovisual document that tells the impossible story of half a century of Europa through the eye of the amateur filmmaker.
